Today's video is on my absolute favorite scale - the pentatonic scale. These 5 little notes have made such a major impact on my life as a guitarist.
I remember growing up listening to guys like Kirk Hammett and Slash, and wondering how they got such great solos in such a small section of the neck.
In today's video I'll explain the formulas that make up the Major and Minor pentatonic scales. I'll show you all 5 box patterns, and how once you know all 5, you're all set for both major and minor.
We'll also go over how to combine patterns, and how all of these boxes are linked together. Finally, I'll show you how you can add some passing tones to make your pentatonic scales sound even better.
This is one of the most useful scales out there, and I hope you dig the video! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the YouTube comments section.
