If you visit the site regularly, you may have noticed that October has been pretty quiet on the site, and for good reason - I’ve been working on new stuff for the end of the year! I wanted to check in with you guys, and let you know some of the great stuff I’ve been working on. If you do visit Chasing Sound a bunch, thank you!
I’m excited to close out 2018 strong, so you can expect a ton of new stuff on Chasing Sound in November and December.
I’m in the process of making and filming a new basics video with a topic that has really pushed my playing over the last 20 years - pentatonic scales. If you’re new to guitar, you’re not going to want to miss this vid. And if you’ve been playing pentatonic scales for years, it might be a good refresher for you.
For the last couple of months I’ve been doing a Chasing Sound Book Club Giveaway, with some of my favorite guitar books. I’m going to be doing one more book giveaway in November, and then I’ll be changing things up for December. Instead of giving away a book, I’ll be giving away a guitar pedal. Reach out to me on Twitter or Facebook if you’ve had your eye on any pedals recently.
With only a couple of weeks left in the year, I’ve still been building the Chasing Sound Guitar Song of the Week playlist - you can find links to the playlist on the sidebar of this site (I made a playlist for Apple Music and Spotify). I’m going to pick a guitar song of the year at the end of this year. What’s been your favorite guitar track this year? Having done full albums last year, and single songs this year, I’m still up in the air about what to do next year. We’ll see!
Six String Sunday, my guitar newsletter, has been doing really well lately. This has been the best year for new subscribers. Thanks for reading each week! If you want the best guitar stuff delivered to your inbox each week, I send out a new newsletter each Sunday, without fail. You can sign up for that in the sidebar too.
More videos! This year I started doing more videos over on YouTube. Everything from Q&A’s to chords you should know, practice exercises, and a whole bunch of videos in my 2 Minute Guitar Tips series. I invested in a new camera and setup, and you can expect to see me do more and more videos throughout the end of this year, into 2019.
More reviews! Reviews have been a staple of my site over the last couple of years. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some cool companies, and meet the great people who work at them over the past few years. I try and be as transparent as possible when doing reviews, so if I really like something, you’ll know it. When I first started writing Chasing Sound, one of my main points was to make sure that all the ads that are in the sidebar are for products I’ve used in the past, and have thought warranted being there. What gear do you want me to review next?
The podcast. I’m still working on my podcast, Amped Up, which was set to return this month, but still needs a little work. There are so many guitar podcasts out there, I want to make mine really special. When I initially was doing the show, it was on Anchor. I’m not 100% sure I’ll be returning to that platform, but we’ll see. When the show does come back, you guys will be the first to know.
More link posts. I send out a newsletter weekly with my favorite things in the Guitar World, but I want to throw some more news-ier posts on the site every day. How do you feel about that? I don’t want the site to become too cluttered, but I do like commenting on fun stuff happening in the guitar world, more than once a week.
I want to hear from you. What do you want to learn on guitar? Who do you want me to reach out to for an interview? Reach out on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube.
